Roy Mountain Wildlife Management Area is a 1590-acre parcel of land owned by the State of Vermont and managed by the VT Fish & Wildlife Department. The WMA is located within the towns of Barnet and Ryegate, and ranges from the top of Roy Mountain, west to Jewett Pond, and south to the shores of Upper and Lower Symes Ponds.

Like many other wildlife management area’s in Vermont Roy Mountain WMA has a few old farm fields that dot the property. Here we planted one and a half acres of near the parking location off Roy Mountain Road. This field is located near a deer wintering area and surrounded by white oaks.
At this site we chose to plant Gulf Annual Ryegrass to help compete with the existing vegetation that has taken over the fallow field. In a wetter corner of this field Imperial Clover was planted.
