Buck Forage Oats

50 lbs. - $39.99
Buck Forage Oats is a great product that has dual uses. We like to use Buck Forage Oats both as a cover crop and as a fall forage. The only thing that separates the two types is the time of year to plant them and how mature the plant gets.
When Buck Forage Oats are used as a cover crop, we usually mix it with Imperial Clover, much like a farmer would do. By using this technique, no weed killers are needed. The Buck Forage Oats are quick to sprout, so it eliminates the ability for weeds to take hold. The Buck Forage Oats will get mowed once they have matured, leaving a perfect stand of Imperial Clover. This method also provides forage for song birds, turkeys, and bear.
In the Northeast, if you plant Buck Forage Oats in August, then they will not mature and will provide tender forage for deer and turkey to feed on until the snow is too deep to reach the plant. We have seen deer feed on this as late as January.
