Do you want to plant a food plot on a hilltop, hillside or on almost any light, upland soil? Alfa-Rack is your answer. The Whitetail Institute’s extensive research and development program designed Alfa-Rack to be planted in just these type situations. A blend of high-protein, drought and cold-resistant grazing alfalfas, Alfa-Rack has an extensive deep-root structure that keeps plants secure on even steep hillsides while reaching deep into the soil to find moisture. The addition of Imperial Clover adds up to 35% protein for increased antler development (regular alfalfas provide only 17-24%). The grazing-alfalfa varieties found in Alfa-Rack are higher in nutrients and more attractive than traditional hay alfalfas.

Whether you live in the sunny South, chilly Canada, or somewhere in between, we have an Alfa-Rack blend that was developed to grow successfully on your property. And where Alfa-Rack grows successfully, so do the deer.

The newest, most innovative X-9 alfalfa technology, plus the addition of chicory for drought resistance and superior taste, takes Alfa-Rack Plus to a new level. Alfa-Rack Plus is even easier to establish, faster growing, and more digestible and resistant. If you are looking for the versatility of Alfa-Rack with additional yield and hardiness, try Alfa-Rack Plus.

How we recommend using this product

Like clover, we recommend that you keep your food plots under an acre. Our heaviest used food plots are 1/4 to 1/2 acre in size and are surrounded with plenty of cover. This allows any animal an escape route just a few yards away.

The site should be located in a dry area, but cannot be gravel or sand. A good test is to grab a handful of soil and compress it into a ball in your hand. If the soil does not maintain its shape, then the conditions are right.
