About Wildlife Habitat Consultants

Wildlife Habitat Consultants was founded in 2001 as a resource for food plot information relevant to the Northeast. Family owned and operated, our experience in habitat spans more than 25 years. From developing environmentally supportive food plots to timber harvesting, we specialize in advising and educating landowners on enhancing their property’s natural habitat.

Ken Eastman’s enthusiasm and excitement for nature, conservation, hunting and fishing has been passed down to both his sons. Now they would all like to pass it on to you.

Ken grew up on a small Vermont beef farm where his father taught him how to raise Angus using crops and rotational grazing to maximize the amount of meat on the animal. Like many Vermont farms, they also relied upon timber harvesting as a source of income. At a young age, he learned how to harvest timber effectively without destroying the land that they rely upon.

Ken developed a love for the outdoors at an early age. As a boy, he would skip classes to go hunting despite his teachers’ disapproval. He has experienced the reintroduction of Vermont’s deer and turkey populations and seen the dramatic effects of changing habitat in the region.

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, Ken operated a brush hogging business that frequently worked with state biologists on many of Vermont’s wildlife management areas. Along with brush hogging, he released apple trees and helped reclaim old Vermont pastures in an effort to keep the diversity needed to support Vermont’s wildlife.

Ken started to plant food plots in 1997 with the hope to create a better hunting environment for his family—the results were impressive! During his second year of planting food plots, his wife harvested an 8-point buck that weighed 213 lbs!

With the help of his two sons, he opened Wildlife Habitat Consultants in 2001 so more Vermonters can see the results that his family has experienced.

Welcome!

We would like to welcome you to our family and start sharing the enjoyment that food plots and conservation has brought to us.
