2006 Early Archery Season Success
Submitted by Dan on October 12, 2006 - 11:57.2006 Early Archery Season Success

2006 Vermont Archery Season has started and so far things are looking really good. With an abundance of buck in the woods, archers should harvest some really magnificent bucks. One such buck that was reported is this 214 pound, 8-point monster shot in Greensboro, VT by Butch Hatch. We thought this deer was worthy of recognition even though we had no hand in improving habitat where this deer was taken. This is Butch’s heaviest deer taken in his many years of hunting.
Butch found an old cut-off that had an apple tree locate in it. With permission from the landowner, Butch decided to release the apple tree this spring and add some shooting lanes anticipating were this buck will enter. In the end this deer came into his stand in early evening at only a few yards away, creating an incredible experience and a very happy hunter.
Along with this deer many people have been reporting to us they have seen lots of bucks of this caliber throughout Vermont. Even one person had the opportunity to see two buck fight for the first time in his 26 years of hunting in Vermont. We hope these opportunities and successes are passed through to the youth season and onto the remaining rifle and muzzleloader seasons.
